Thinking of going for a meal? Go here. It’s beautiful. The village itself is very picturesque and The Village Pub fits right in. You walk in and are greeted by very friendly staff who throughout your meal are extremely helpful (which helps as my girlfriend nearly always needs to change her meal slightly) heehee :) The food is excellent. There are no other words required in all honesty. We have eaten there 3 times now and every time we have been delighted! We have naturally tried different dishes from their menu (although I have had the pork for main twice now! Just too nice!). You are given lovely warm bread to eat while making the very difficult decision of what to devour from the menu. The mezze… quail scotch eggs and Welsh rarebit fritters are gorgeous!! We shared a seasonal vegetable soup too which was nice :) The mains are a good portion which leaves you satisfied. I always know when my gf’s food is good..she does a little food dance! (A sat down, hip side to side movement!) which I will always find amusing :). Anyway… I have had the pigeon with dressed salad and pine nuts (as a starter) and the slow cooked pork (twice). Both have been exceptional. The scallop dish is as beautifully presented as it is tasty! Kate didn’t care too much for the lamb neck though (it was too manly apparently!? Although I liked it!). Her venison was to die for!! The desserts are heavenly… shortbread with creme anglaise, creamy ice cream, the poached pear with cream and chocolate sauce is autumn in a bowl! :) In short if you go to The Village Pub I will be very suprised if you leave disappointed. The whole experience is lovely. Helpful, attentive staff, exquisite setting, outstanding food and reasonably priced. I can only rate this 10/10. Oh… while you’re there have a pint of Cotswold lager too! :)
